FOLLOWING his outstanding achievement in the Ghanaian music industry for the past years, management of Media Excel has announced that it will organize a gospel musical concert to celebrate Superintendent Kofi Sarpong.

According to Media Excel Productions, the concert which would be used to launch the Kofi Sarpong Foundation would take place in Accra, June this year.

The concert, which is expected to attract music lovers from all over the country, as well as a large number of the stakeholders in the music industry, would feature some selected gospel musicians and musical groups.

Media Excel Productions, which had Ernest Kwesi Ennin, a music producer and artiste manager as its chief executive, is an event company which is deeply involved in event production, marketing, music production, artiste management and music merchandise.

The company has successfully organized events such as Bernice Offei @ 30 gospel concert, Akosua Agyapong @20 concert, YAFCA fund raising, Africa Union board float at Elubo and Ghana @ 50 gospel musical festival.

The event would be a night of fun and glamour for music fans who would troop to the venue (yet to be announced) to watch Kofi Sarpong and other gospel artistes live on stage.

According to Mr Ennin, the concert is being organized to honour Kofi Sarpong and also to create the opportunity for gospel musicians in Ghana to showcase their musical talents on one platform.

He said the concept is to give Kofi Sarpong and other artistes on the bill a place of honour at an event that would celebrate them together with their families and of course, fans.

Kofi Sarpong has two albums to his credit and is making waves on the gospel music scene with his traditional gospel song sang in ‘borborbor’.

The senior police officer cum gospel musician was nominated for Gospel Artiste of the Year in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (GMAs) last year after winning Gospel Song of the Year two years earlier with his debut ‘Meto Dwom’.

He has consistently maintained his reputation as one of the most celebrated gospel musicians in Ghana and a toast of music concerts throughout the country.
